FFL – Federal Firearms License Info
The State of Colorado requires that ALL firearm Purchases and Transfers go thru a FFL or Federal Firearms Licensee. We are licensed to process all standard firearm Purchases and Transfers in Colorado.
The only exception is the sale or transfer of a fire arm to an immediate family member. In this case you do NOT need to do a background check or complete the typical ATF paperwork. Immediate family is defined: as spouses, parents, children, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, first cousins, aunts, and uncles (in-laws do not apply). (CRS 18-12-112)

Please check out these lists BEFORE you attempt to buy, sell, or transfer a firearm in the State of Colorado! There are quite a few things that may result in a failed background check, so do your homework!
NFA Firearms and Destructive Devices
We do NOT process Purchases and Transfers for silencers, machine guns, or NFA firearms (short barreled rifles / shotguns). Here is a link with a list of Colorado NFA FFL’s that can help you out.
Concealed Carry Permit
Even if you already have your Colorado Concealed Carry Permit, you will still be required to go thru an FFL for all firearm Purchases and Transfers in Colorado. We do NOT currently offer any training for getting your Concealed Carry Permit.
Out of State Sales or Transfers
If you would like to sell or ship a firearm out of state, we can help. All firearms shipped either thru the US Postal Service, or UPS / FedEx require an FFL to facilitate this transaction. The firearm must be delivered in person by the FFL to the shipper, and there is special paperwork that is required. We have a $30 fee for this, plus whatever the actual shipping cost is per the carrier selected. Obviously, larger firearms like rifles and shotguns will cost more to ship due to the size / weight of the package.
Ghost Guns
Ghost guns are defined as un-serialized (and therefore untraceable) firearms that are put together by components purchased either as a kit or as separate pieces. In other words, they have no permanent serial number, and therefore cannot be Purchased, Sold, or Transferred. As of 2023 it is illegal for any person (other than a licensed manufacturer or importer) to possess a “ghost gun” (Ghost Guns and Untraceable Firearms Act of 2023)
What are the steps for a firearm Purchase or Transfer?

For purchases, just contact us to let us know that you wish to purchase a firearm. If it is an out of state transaction, the Seller will need our FFL information. Click here for our FFL documentation. For a local firearm transfer, we can arrange a time to do the background check, paperwork, and transfer.

For out of state Purchases, the firearm will ship to us, usually via UPS. We are required to sign off in person to receive the firearm package. If you can let us know that you have made a purchase, and provide us with the shipping information / tracking number, we’d appreciate it!

Once the firearm is received we will reach out to you via email, phone, or text to let you know it has arrived. We can then set up a time for you to come by and conduct the background check, and fill out the necessary ATF paperwork. We do background checks by appointment only! But, we always strive to get this done as quickly and easily as possible for you! That said, we appreciate your patience with this process!

What you need: You must have a current, valid State ID or Drivers License with you when we do the background check. Often times the background check does NOT go thru right away, so be prepared to come back to pick up the firearm once the background check has been approved. Usually this is the next business day, but it can vary.

Our fee for a firearm Purchase or Transfer is $60 cash regardless of the outcome of the background check. This fee includes the receiving of the firearm, the State of Colorado background check fee, and all the required ATF paperwork.
